Oakdale Business and Professional Association Board Meeting February 21, 2008 Hilton Garden Inn City Update - Craig Waldron spoke about the city buying Blackie's property at Tanner's Lake. He also spoke of the housing foreclosure action plan. We talked as a group of a way to reach out to the 300 new employees that will be employed by Hartford. School Update - Herb Lohse mentioned they are working hard to schedule and staff for next school year. There has been a drop in enrollment. Career and Tech Education week is next week. Gold Plate - Congratulations and thank you to the planning committee and all involved for a huge success of the 2007 Gold Plate Dinner event. Scholarship Proposal - Stacie Penn proposed to add an additional $1000 to the scholarship budget to fund a renewable scholarship. Dan Ruud motioned to approve and Ted Lillie seconded it. Committee Reports: Treasurers Report - Jack Burke reported $ 7,914 in checking and $ 9702 in the money market account. In 60 seconds -Jack Buckley noted he has 1 spot open for March. Guest Speaker - Frank Orsello announces the March guest speaker will be Ken Porwall. He is a Bataan Death March survivor. OBPA directories - Ted Lillie mentions every business owner should take a stack and get them out to the general public. Please present in your place of work. He will bring his box of them to the upcoming meetings. Adjourn - The meeting was adjourned at 1:00. The next General Meeting is March 6th at the Prom Center.
