Members present-       Amy Brown, Patty Kamas, Dan Rude , Bill Burns, John Larson, Stacie Penn, Ted Lillie, Jack Buckley , Rick Timm,  Ric Pace, Jodi Christensen, Michele Willard, Marc Cove, Jack Burke and Frank Orsella.  

 

City Update -    LA Fitness and PINZ celebrate Grand Openings.  Summer fest week is here.  There was an update on the impact of unallotments on Oakdale – the city council and staff have been working diligently to prepare a budget that includes these reductions in aid and will continue to analyze opportunities for cost savings.  Redevelopment update – the projects at Tanners Lake and the Oakdale Mall continue to progress with being challenged by the current market.  Reminder to visit the Farmers Market on Wednesdays throughout the summer. 

 

Treasurer's Report  none – Jack out of town

 

School Update -  discussed who would replace Herb Lohse up upon his retirement.

 

Eggs and Issues debrief - Rick Timm – 54 people turned out.  Those in attendance felt it was a success due to the engaging questions and commentary by the panel.  We discussed the need for microphones for next years meeting and keeping the comments to a three minute limit.  Next years meeting will be held on June 3, 2010.  Mark your calendars.

 

Political Involvement debate – Rick Timm presented reasons to bring political issues before the OBPA.  We had much discussion. Tony Schwartz motioned to form a subcommittee to discuss this matter in full detail, then report back at the next board meeting.  Ted Lillie seconded it.

 

Councilman Reinke’s request for distribution of neighborhood Newsletter – we elected to defer the discussion until the next meeting until we learned more about it.

 

June Picnic debrief - Marc Cove –the picnic went well, we served over 900 people.  Once suggestion would be to have a bigger banner for next year. 

 

Yellow Ribbon progress - Marc Cove continues to discuss this important initiative with other organizations already providing support to our troops.  He continues to explore the need for our involvement and will find out more information in June to report back to us.  .  

 

Golf Fundraiser Update - Tony Schwartz is still looking for sponsors.  We spoke about the challenges with getting sponsorships this year due to the economics strains on businesses.

 

We are looking for the old OBPA banner – Does anyone have it?

 

 

Committee Reports:

Membership - Bill Burns presented the leave behinds he ordered for businesses.  It is a pen holder with the OBPA logo.

 

Guest Speaker –  July speaker is Reed Hagen, Disc Jockey for KLBB
